Rustic Magic in
Oak Glen
Who else wants all the rustic and woodsy wedding vibes they can get?
Nestled in the San Bernardino Mountains lies the quaint little town of Oak Glen, famous for its apple and berry-picking farms. This is where you can find The Homestead: a full-service outdoor wedding venue with vintage charm and no shortage of authentic detail.
This was the setting for the Styled Hwy wedding shoot, organized by Kristin Smith, the owner and founder of KS Floral Concepts. Southern Californians aren't accustomed to much seasonal rain, let alone several days of deluge, but Kristin did not shy away from the inclement weather. Instead, her intuitive vision brought out the photographer's resolve to capture a truly magical mood.
With fairy lights strung throughout the grounds cutting through the rapidly moving fog — and the clouds providing perfectly diffused light — glittering raindrops fell on the mountain greenery. These natural elements highlighted each vendor's craftsmanship and set this whimsical shoot apart. The beautiful tablescape was loaded with fragrant floral displays in berry tones and complementary blue accents in the linens.
There were uniquely crafted candy apples and hand-monogrammed cookies at each place setting; one of the cookies even served as a colorful cake topper. And oh, that cake! It was a masterpiece of textures, with wine-colored blooms and real berries encircling each layer.
After the umbrellas were put away, I found myself in front of a vintage trailer photo booth with a cozy sitting area. Complete with vintage furnishings and colorful glassware, it was designed for the bride and groom to snuggle while sipping signature cocktails. There were still more details to capture, including a unique ring set provided by Staghead Designs — you just have to check those out!
A rustic A-frame covered in themed floral hues provided a beautiful arch for photos. Eventually, we moved to an open field where our stunning models made friends with some local alpacas. Finally, there was that memorable finale: watching the newlyweds chase each other through the meadow with the tree-lined mountains as their backdrop.
I'm convinced our groom intentionally let his bride catch up to him just for that "dip and kiss" shot.
Until next time, Oak Glen and Styled Hwy. — Lori
